The Challenge

Credit Card Delinquencies Are Putting Portfolio Performance at Risk

Credit card collection today involves much more than sending reminders and placing calls. Issuers need to concentrate on getting the best results, complying with every applicable rule and regulation, and treating each cardholder with respect. Four major challenges continue to affect recovery results across the industry.

Delinquency Pressure Keeps Building

Rising living costs and higher revolving balances push more accounts past due, increasing the volume internal teams must work and the number of accounts that eventually charge off.

Internal Teams Are Stretched Thin

Manual call lists, disconnected systems, and growing portfolios make it hard for in-house teams to prioritize accounts and keep contact strategies consistent.

Regulatory Compliance Is Non-Negotiable

Every call, letter, and payment arrangement must align with the FDCPA, Regulation F, the FCRA, and state rules, including statutes of limitations and licensing requirements. A single misstep creates real legal and reputational exposure.

Cardholder Trust Is Easy to Lose

Aggressive or inconsistent outreach drives complaints, damages brand perception, and can push customers away for good.

FAQs

Your Questions, Answered

Find answers to common questions about our debt collection process, compliance standards, recovery approach, and how we help businesses recover outstanding receivables.

A credit card collection agency is an organization that banks, credit unions, and other financial institutions engage to recover unpaid balances. The agency acts as the creditor's representative in collection decisions.

A credit card collection usually starts with payment reminders from the issuing bank. If a cardholder fails to pay, the bank may transfer the account to a debt collection agency, which contacts the cardholder, verifies the debt, negotiates payment, and reports the results.

Charged-off credit card accounts are debts the issuer has determined it is unlikely to collect, which usually happens after about 180 days past due. A charge-off does not mean the debtor is free of the obligation to pay.

Once a lender has exhausted internal efforts to recover the balance, or determines the account has reached late-stage delinquency or charge-off, it typically assigns the account to a collection agency. Timing depends on your portfolio, internal capacity, and the likelihood of recovery at that stage.

A collections agency acts on behalf of the creditor and usually does not take ownership of the account. A debt buyer purchases the account and collects on it for its own benefit.

Strong compliance with the FDCPA, Regulation F, and state regulations; data security; transparent reporting; and a cardholder-centered recovery approach. A proven track record with similar portfolios helps as well.
